Here's a couple of hints on how to help stabilize yourself while scuba diving. Proper positioning can make all the difference between feeling like you're out of control and you being one with the water. Think like a fish u/w and not a people (Human). Use some pool time to help condition yourself. Thanks for watching ! Bob C

    I wish we had such a great kit, when I was a child. The quality of this set is almost similar to a top scuba set. When I was a child, I choosed cressi, because their mask were tempered glass too, but sets were mostly cheap made. So you never bought a set, it's great this had changed so much!

      Hi OMA, Showing how to change a dive computer battery on the channel, is not something I'm going to do. I'm sure you understand. I'd suggest taking or sending it to a shop with a qualified Tech, so if it was to flood afterwards, it's on them. Make sure whom ever you have work on it, explains how they warranty their work such as this, before you let them do it.

    I have this BC for a few years now. I had a few issues with its design. First I find it creates a legs up head down position very easily(some web trolls 🧌 suggested I’m making excuses 😮). When I made a video of my buddy having the same issue with his I decided to Halcyon BP. This issue is caused I think because of several issues(my thin body and upper body distribution) with the BC design. Single tank belt adapter. Trim pockets located too high. Too small back plate skeleton. Another issue I had with this BC is the placement of a single air release valve on the left, on the inside of the lift bladder. Makes it frequently hard to locate. The D rings in the shoulder straps are located too high and are too small. Pocket attachment and accessories attachment to the weight insert housing is useless. Overall this BC is good don’t get me wrong but it does need a refreshed design I think to make it great.

    At 9:20, the reason for the screen protector is because Shearwater didn't use a sapphire crystal on the Tern. The Teric has a sapphire crystal, and doesn't need a screen protector because there's nothing on earth outside of diamonds etc. that will scratch it. Why didn't Shearwater use a sapphire crystal on the Tern? Only they know. Cost is no excuse, as there are plenty of very cheap ($100) wristwatches that use sapphire crystals.

    Dive masters at the recreational level are absolute garbage. They have no idea how to maintain good buoyancy, cannot helicopter turn or backfin, and cannot dive anything other than a single tank. To those that actually want to become better divers, look into GUE Fundies and some form of Advanced Nitrox/Decompression Procedures. As a cave diver, the training needed to be a dive master is sub par and I feel unsafe around them.

    I bought the Bare Velocity Ultra 8/7mm Semi-Dry Wetsuit for diving in Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands, Washington State, Pacific Northwest. The water temperature here ranges from 45F in winter to 55F in summer. My Bare Velocity Ultra keeps me warm down to about 80 feet in winter. Beyond that in the winter, I need a 2/3mm vest underneath my wetsuit. In the summer, nothing else is needed down to 130 feet. It has a Front Zipper Entry, a Built-In Hood, and a 2mm neoprene internal pullover for the front zipper area.

    It would be great to specify the buoyancy of each fin model. Based on my experience: the Avanti Quattro is a soft fin, slightly negatively buoyant. Many of my diver friends like it a lot, but I find it soft and not powerful enough. The RK3 is a very soft fin, not powerful at all when you need to kick. It's nice for control but lacks power. The Oceanic Manta is my favorite fin; it's an all-in-one honestly. They are powerful, easy to control, and neutral to slightly positively buoyant. They have a tremendous kick in the current. I should note that this is my personal experience in the Red Sea, so it could vary according to the different salinity levels of the water

    Over the years I went through Ceos, Paragon S, Intega and now Zensee Pro. My current favourite is the Zensee Pro with Intega as the backup mask, but all others still live on (which I can't say about masks from other manufacturers). I just leave them in different bags or pockets: Pool bag, wetsuit bag (tech shorts) and drysuit.

    Thanks for the presentation. The BC looks complicated. I personally prefer a 'simple stupid' BCD. I've been using Scubapro Litehawk for many2 years and never thought to replace it with another model. Although the look doesn't appeal to most divers, it does the job very well. It comes with two small hip pockets which can only used to put weight. I replaced it with larger pockets and now I can put my SMB, dive hook, and gloves there with some extra space for more items.

    True, if I learn from someone with a high knowledge, let's say level 10, my knowledge would have a huge benefit, so I would start with the knowledge of level 9 or 10, while if I get a teached by a new instructor I may keep the same level, or maybe less, because my knowledge was already higher. So why not learn from them best, I know risk can be dangerous, but the best Instructor I had until now, knew how much risk isn't dangerous, so he let me do, then he say what I should do better next time, I guess this is the right way to teach. Give the student time to fix it by himself, let him maybe struggle a little bit. Of course not too much, this wouldn't be fair. Where I benefit from letting me struggle: BCD: I tried left arm first, which was stupid. Boat: first BCD then fins, very stupid. But he let me do, he smiled a bit, because he knew it wouldn't work. May I'm wrong, but if I were Instructor I would let them do for a while, as long it's not dangerous.

    • @DiversSupplyYT
      @DiversSupplyYT 2 місяці тому

      Thanks for your comments Ben. If an instructor can teach the right way, right from the beginning and insist on building muscle memory during training then likely a diver will continue to use that methodology after training. If you teach to a 4-5 level, with (evaluations 1-5 with 1= fail, 2= needs improvement, 3= adequate, 4= good and 5= excellent) then if a diver slips a little to a 3-4 they are doing pretty good. Here at our IDC we push for straight 5's if at all possible. Thanks Bob C
